Gene Franklin Lewis, 81, of Casar, NC, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at home.

He was born on March 12, 1945 in Mecklenburg County, to the late Catherine and Jack Lewis.

Gene retired from PPG after 37 years and was a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan.

He is survived by his wife, Jayne Cook Lewis, of the home; children: Danny Lewis (Teresa), Greenwood, SC, Pam Hamrick (Ronny), Shelby, NC, Johnny Lewis (Jennifer), Shelby, NC, Jana Gurley (Shawn Davis), Oak Island, NC, Cole Gurley (Emily), Casar, NC, and Skye Gettys (Sean), Polkville, NC; 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Lewis (Barbara), Florence, SC.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in the chapel at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home - Fallston, with Danny Lewis officiating.

The family will gather at the home of Cole and Emily Gurley, 817 Mt. Zion Ch. Rd., Casar at other times.

A private burial service will be held after the memorial service.
