Mr. George Eugene Leigh, 81, of 1413 Costner Road, Shelby, NC, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010. Services were held at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Leigh was preceded in death by his parents, George B. Leigh and Jettie Crawford Leigh; 1 son, Howard Leigh; 1 daughter, Alice Faye Leigh; and 2 brothers, John Howard Leigh and Jay Hugh Leigh.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Jean Benfield Leigh; 2 sons, Ricky Aldridge of Rutherfordton and Jimmy Aldridge and wife Tana of Shelby; 3 daughters, Karen Kendrick and husband Robby of Shelby, Kim White and husband Mark of Mooresville, NC, and Sherry Gardo of Kings Mountain, NC; 6 brothers, Sam Leigh and Steve Leigh, both of Kings Mountain, Carl Leigh of South Carolina, and Joe Leigh, Fred Leigh and Jack Leigh, all of Maryland; 3 sisters, Ruth Hovis of Fallston, Fay Mann of Virginia, and Edna Leigh of Blacksburg; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
