George Roy Chance, Sr., age 91, passed away Friday January 21, 2022 at Peak Resources in Shelby.

Born in Moosic, PA on August 7, 1930, he was the son of the late John Hershey and Mary Jane Russell Chance. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife Anita Cousins Chance, and his three siblings, Russell Chance, Jack Chance, and Jane McFarland.

George retired as a Chief Warrant Officer with the U.S. Army after more than 20 years of service to country during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. George worked well with his hands crafting furniture for his home and tended to his flower gardens.

George is survived by his daughter Sandra Chance and his son George Roy Chance, Jr.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday February 1, 2022 at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain, NC. The family will receive friends following the service.
