George White, age 75, of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

George was born Tuesday, May 14, 1946 in Rutherford County to the late Reid White and Eva Mae Ferguson White.

He was a graduate of Alexander High School, class of 1965.

George was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Line Technician for Duke Power for thirty-five years before retirement and was a member of Centennial United Methodist Church in Union Mills. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and John White.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Chris White (Tina) of Shelby; granddaughter, Anna White and grandson, Trevor White; two sisters, Hilda Conner of Spartanburg and Martha Green of Forest City.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 9, 2021 with Reverend Jack Crain officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
