Georgia Burleson Phillips
Georgia Burleson Phillips, age 85, of Womack Lake Road, Forest City, NC, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Henderson Care.
     Georgia was born August 28, 1927 in Mitchell County, NC to the late Thomas Clingman Burleson and Ada Buchanan Burleson.  She worked for Burlington Industries most of her life and retired from J.C. Cowan.  She was a longtime and faithful member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.  She was known as “the world’s greatest cook” and loved her family and church.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Collon Phillips; one son, Wayne Phillips and one sister, Bernice Wilson.
     She is survived by one grandson; James Wayne Phillips and wife, Debbie of Forest City; one granddaughter, Donna Buchanan of Ontario, Canada; three great grandchildren, Terri Goforth, Garrett Buchanan, Eric Buchanan; two great-great grandchildren, Mackenzie Phillips and Nathaniel Goforth. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Nanette Phillips of Henrietta and several nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Harris officiating.  Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
     Memorial donations are suggested to Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church, 1938 US Highway 221A, Forest City, NC  28043.
