Geraldine Lena O'Mallan

Geraldine Lena O'Mallan was born on February 6, 1938, in Gaffney, South Carolina, and died on December 31, 2021.

She was raised by Thomas and Vera Scott before joining the Sisters of Mercy and moving to Belmont, North Carolina.

In 1971 she resigned from the Mercy Order and relocated with her best friend, Antonia Martinez to Guam. In 1975 she married Charles William (Bill) O'Mallan. After he retired they moved to Shelby, North Carolina, to be near her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and sister, Joyce.

Gerri is survived by:

Ann and Bill Roth, Carmen, Basil and Anne, Charles and Kandace, Patrick and Macila, Sharon, Rosa, Mike and Josie, Sam and Cheryl, and Gerard and Lola. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her step-mother Irene, and family friend Mary Allen.

Gerri was an exceptional cook and she loved spending many hours with Bill in the kitchen as they prepared meals. She also loved gardening and was very proud of her roses and azaleas.

She was a devout Catholic and was very involved in her church, Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

Gerri was a life-long teacher; first as a member of the Sisters of Mercy in North Carolina, then in the public schools in Guam and North Carolina.

Final services in Shelby, North Carolina, and Guam are still pending. She will be buried with her husband on Guam.
