Getting Prepared, Then Cleaning Up
Bill Warlick
On Saturday, we stopped by the N.C. Department of Transportation headquarters in Cleveland County, located on Kemper Rd. in Shelby and caught Bill Warlick coming in for a lunch break. Bill had just finished laying down some salt brine on Highway 74 East. The fellows at DOT worked all day Saturday and Sunday getting the roads prepared for the area’s winter blast. Then, this past Tuesday, we found the City of Shelby’s Charles Robinson directing traffic on S. Lafayette Street as Jeremy Bridges (in the CAT front end loader) was removing snow and ice from the uptown parking spaces. Between the State DOT and all the local municipality cleaning crews, the roads returned to safe driving quickly.
