Glenn Arlo Morrison, 85, of Cherryville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.

Born in Lincoln County on February 17, 1941, he was the son of the late Jess Willard Morrison and Catherine Johnson. Arlo retired from Rutherford Electric Membership Corporation after many years of dedicated service. He was a faithful and supportive member of Bethlehem Community Church, where his quiet presence and willingness to help were appreciated by many.

Arlo found his greatest joy outdoors. Whether spending time with his horses, casting a line while fishing, or hunting with family and friends, he was happiest in nature. Among his favorite memories were many unforgettable hunting trips to Montana.

In addition to his parents, Arlo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Betsy Sigmon Morrison.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Morrison of Cherryville; his sister, Helen Wright of Hickory; his stepsister, Shea Rhodes of Charleston, South Carolina; his stepbrothers, Bill Johnson and Al Johnson, both of Hickory; two brothers-in-law, Carroll Lingerfelt of Vale and Melvin Isenhour; and his sister-in-law, Becky Sigmon of Matthews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Bethlehem Community Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jason Elmore officiating.
