Glyn B. Moton, age 81, of Hazelwood Drive, Forest City, NC, died Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Glyn was born March 25, 1938 in Ouachita Parish, LA to the late Jess M. Moton and Louise Senn Moton. He was a graduate of Holly Ridge High School, class of 1956. He attended Northeast Louisiana State University on a football scholarship. He then honorably served his country in the United States Army. Glyn was a Bi-Vocational Pastor for Smith Grove in Maryland while working at Bethlehem Steel. After retirement from Bethlehem Steel, Glyn relocated to the Charlotte area to be near his family. Glyn was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening. Glyn was dedicated to his God, his family and to his country.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Carroll.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Thomasene "Tommie" Moton; son, Greg M. Moton and wife, Holly of Davidson; daughter, Rebecca M. Jackson of Chesterton, Indiana; brother, Jess Moton and wife, Cindy of Greensburg, Indiana and two grandchildren, Ryan Moton and Madeline Moton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Mills officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Mission Trip Fund, 397 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Forest City, NC 28043 or to any Hospice facility of choice.
