Shelby High School Football Coach Lance Ware arrived back in Shelby on Saturday night, December 14 after his team won the state championship in Chapel Hill. Pictured: Coach Ware is surrounded by his staff as they continued the celebration. The Golden Lions trounced Southwest Onslow, 29-7, to capture the N. C. High School Football 2A Championship. Coach Ware said: “It all came down to great defense!” Shelby’s junior quarterback, R.J. George, was named MVP of the game. He completed 14 of 27 passes. Defensive honors went to Demerrio Houston who picked off three passes for interceptions. Congratulations on a great season!
