Ground Breaking For Sandra's Home
A special ground-breaking ceremony for Sandra's Home was held on Saturday, March 31st. This is a new transitional home for older youth, located beside the Hands on Missions and Christine's Home office building on Hwy 180 North.
Sandra's Home will be a division of Laura's Homes of North Carolina and will assist youth who have "aged out" of the foster care system and will help prepare them for independent living.
The home will give the children interested in attending college a stable, supportive environment and help them to be able to continue their education, seek employment, get a car and insurance, and gain the skills and tools necessary to lead a productive, successful life.
The facility will be named after Sandra Hendrick Ware. Sandra was a beautiful lady with a strong love for people, especially children. She was a loving wife and mother of two boys.  Sandra worked in the Children's Department at Double Springs Baptist Church for many years.  She had a sweet, gentle and child-like spirit about her and all of the children loved her very much. Sandra's love for the Lord and her compassion and love for people were evident in the way she lived.  Sandra died in 2000 from a brain tumor.
