Gwendolyn Williams Watson

Gwendolyn Williams Watson, 79, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at home.
She was born in Hall County, GA., to the late O.W. Williams and Annie Mae Shoemake Williams. She was also preceded in death by her previous husband, Donnie Callahan and three brothers, D.S., Fred, and Max Williams; and three sisters, Venar Short, Geraldine Fraser, and Beulah Durant.
Gwen was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Jan Klinger Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Young at Heart and also was the past President. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She understood the individuality of each of her children and she nurtured a unique relationship with each of them.
She was retired from Cleveland Memorial Park where she was an administrator and she was also employed with M&J Financial.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald B. Watson; a son, Craig Whitaker and his wife Sherry of Boiling Springs; a daughter, Gaylee Whitaker of Mooresboro, a stepson, Michael B. Watson of Shelby and a stepdaughter, Donna Lee Watson of Shelby. She is also survived by four sisters, Frances Connor and her husband Dean Connor of Wesley Chapel, FL; Blanche Blanton and her husband Bobby Blanton of Ellenboro; Dianne Bostic and her husband, Danny Bostic of The Villages, FL, and Vicki Humphries and her husband Tommy Humphries from Rutherford College, NC. Three grandsons, Reggie Wood, JJ & Casey Cogdell, two granddaughters, Mandy Wood and Paige Cogdell, eight great grandchildren, Jacob Wood, Hunter Wood, Sara Wood, Emma Wood, Blakely Boonie, Baylee Boonie, Rock Wood, and Huntley Lemmons.
She is also survived by her previous husband Luie Whitaker who is the father of her two children, Craig and Gaylee.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Mike Frazer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
