Hal Hendrick

Hal Hendrick, 87, of Plainfield Drive, Shelby, passed away Saturday, March
18, 2017 at Peak Resources in Cherryville.

He was born on April 20, 1929, in Cleveland County to the late Clem Franklin
Hendrick and Lona Costner Hendrick. He was a retired farmer raising eggs
and registered black angus. He was also a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church where he had taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a former
building and grounds committee member. Hal was also a member of the NC Angus
Association, American Angus Association, and Cleveland County Cattleman's
Association. Hal also served in the US Army as a paratrooper during the
Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his four brothers,
Mal Hendrick, John Hendrick, Woodrow Hendrick, and Boyd Hendrick; and five
sisters, Charleen Hamrick, Vera Keener, Euray Starnes, Lollie Ledford, and
Evelyn Devine.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Eaker Hendrick, two sons,
Timothy Hendrick and wife Rita of Cherryville and Phillip Hendrick and wife
Dorothy of Starkville, MS; daughter, Ellen Hendrick Benfield and husband
Danny of Raleigh; sister, Jenett Kendrick of Aiken, SC; seven grandchildren,
Peyton Cline and husband Chris of Raleigh, Michael Benfield and wife
Jacqueline of Raleigh, Mark Benfield and wife Elizabeth of Raleigh, Christy
Edwards and husband Jed of Malabar, FL, and Jenny Tysinger and husband Joey
of Shelby, Sara Ledbetter of Kings Mountain, and Scott Hendrick and
companion Kara Van Blarcum of Charlotte; thirteen great grandchildren, Grace
Cline, Olivia Cline, Henry Benfield, Imogene Benfield, Elijah Edwards,
Isaiah Edwards, Jeremiah Edwards, Alex Tysinger, Jacob Tysinger, Andy
Ledbetter, John Ledbetter, Jenna Ledbetter and Allie Ledbetter.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the
church fellowship hall.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Black officiating.
