Shelby American Legion Post 82 Sponsors Student To Attend 75th Session Tar Heel Boys State
Shelby American Legion Post 82 will sponsor Marquan Hamilton to attend the 75th Session of Tar Heel Boys State. The program will be held June 22-28 at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.
Marquan is a Junior at Shelby High School, where he is taking a full load of college preparatory courses, including two Advanced Placement classes. He is active in the Drama program, where he is enrolled in a Tech Theater course, and performed in the production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Just recently, Marquan was selected to be a Junior Marshall at graduation which requires a very high grade point average.
He enjoys basketball and track, mentors his nieces and nephews, and is an active member of Walls Memorial Baptist Church. In a separate program, Marquan was selected to attend a workshop at Chapel Hill called “Project Uplift.” Marquan attended the May 12th meeting of Post 82 and addressed the legionnaires.
