Hampton Arthur Parker

Hampton Arthur Parker, age 95 of Casar, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 22, 2021.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Joyce Boatrite Parker of the home, his children, Beth Max (Robert) of Casar, NC, Ed Parker (Sue) of Casar, NC, and Lisa Baxter (Tommy) of Fallston, NC, fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and three sisters, Marie Brackett of Belwood, NC, Shirley Pearson of Morganton, NC, and Annie Virl Stephenson of Bryson City, NC.

Born October 24, 1925 in Cleveland County, Arthur was the son of the late Buford A. Parker and Vicey Suttle Parker and was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Huggins, a grandson, Joshua Huggins, five brothers, and one sister.

Arthur served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Rogers during WWII. Arthur lived with his wife Joyce for 30 years in Florida and ran a drag line business. They later moved to his home town of Casar, NC where he worked as a welder at Standard Crankshaft in Belwood, NC. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his garden and was an avid bee keeper. Arthur was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 45 years and enjoyed visiting shut-ins and sharing his vegetables with the community. During the winter months, Arthur returned to Florida to fish at Lake Okeechobee.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Keith Stephenson and Rev. James Wedgeworth. Arthur will lie in state at the funeral home from 2:00 - 4:00 pm Monday, January 25, 2021.
