Harold "Dean" Brackett

Harold "Dean" Brackett, 91, of Vale, NC passed away on Wednesday July 15, 2026, at home. Dean was born in Vale NC on May 23, 1935, to the late Forrest and Myrtle Brackett.



Dean was a Veteran of the Korean War and remained dedicated to the men and women serving in the military. Dean worked at Lowes Food grocery store as the manager of the Meat Department and retired at Joan Fabrics while working with his beloved wife Bonnie.



He loved being outside and was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing his vegetables with family and friends. Dean was a die-hard NC Tarheel fan and he and Bonnie never missed watching a basketball game. They loved traveling and camping with family and friends. He was very dedicated and loved his church; Reeps Grove Church.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Brackett and sisters, Annie Tallent, Inez Reep, and Ruby Cockerell.



Leaving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 71 years, Bonnie Sain Brackett, daughter, Renee Brackett of Vale, daughter Tonja McDonald and husband Tim of Huntersville, and granddaughter, Meagan McDonald and fiancé Justin Goins of Lincolnton as well as many nieces and nephews.



The family extends special thanks to the love and care given to Dean by Kay Maths, Althena Friday , and Jane Peeler.



The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am on Saturday, July, 18, 2026 at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan LeMasters-Smith officiating.



Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
