Harrill Hampton Parker, better known to some as Hampton, Dad, Pawpaw, or Pops, 87, of E. Sanders Road, Shelby entered the gates of Heaven surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Born in Cleveland County, NC, on January 23, 1935, he was the son of the late Clarence Parker and Minnie McNeilly Parker. He was retired from Gardner Electric and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He also worked for Hal Lee and Don Dedmond Electric and also served in the US Army in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He was a huge Carolina fan, Braves fan and was an avid hunter and gardner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Mae Redmond Parker; son-in-law, Mike Ledford; a brother, Billy Lee Parker; four sisters, Charlene(Bud) Ramsey, Lizzie(Richard) Warlick, Hilda(Floyd) Hastings and Jean(Glenn) Haynes; brother and sister-in-law, Myrtle Griffin (Gordon) and two brothers-in-law, Everett Redmond. and Harold Mellon.

Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Ledford of Shelby; a granddaughter, Jessica Kaylor and husband Robert; two great- grandchildren, Parker Petree Kaylor and Saban Dennis Kaylor; and a brother, Charles Parker and wife, Elizabeth; three sisters-in-law, Vertie Redmond, Joyce Mellon and Elizabeth Griffin and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 6:00PM until 7:30PM at Stamey Tysinger Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Cindy Ledford, 618 East Sanders Rd., Shelby, NC 28150.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2:00PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Toby Bird and Chris Devine officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
