Harry Edwards Sain

Harry Edwards Sain, 88, of Lawndale, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 13, 2026, at White Oak Manor, Shelby.

Harry was born on February 20, 1937, in Cleveland County and was a son of the late William Dennis and Cora Lilly Upton Sain. He retired after forty-plus years from Shelby Supply as the Industrial Salesman. He was an active member of St. Peters Methodist Church and worked with the United Methodist Men and the Annual Christmas Eve Breakfast. Harry was active in his community serving on the board of directors for the Farm Bureau, Cleveland County Agricultural Advisory Board, volunteering with the USDA, the Jaycees and working with the Belwood Tractor Pull. He and his wife loved spending time together square dancing and taking trips with the Farm Bureau or serving in the Cleveland County Cattleman's Association. Harry was also recognized as the Conservation Farm Family of the year in 2004 and the Cleveland County Farm Bureau Farm Family of the year in 2009. He found great pleasure in spending the weekends at the lake with His family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Helen Huss Sain; brother, Dr. Daniel Sain and sister, Betty Lou Elmore.

Harry is survived by three daughters, Annette Wright of Shelby, Roxanne Swafford and husband, Sandy of Lawndale and Christy Bowman of Lawndale; sister, Julia Sain of Lawndale; sister-in-law, Janet Alexander of Lawndale four grandchildren, Levi Bowman and Hannah; Tyler Swafford and wife Candra; Jared Swafford and wife Anna and Lauren Turner and husband Scott; five great grandchildren, Cora Swafford, Millie Swafford, James Turner and Troy Turner and Quinn Swafford.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 16, 2026, 11:00 AM at St. Peters Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Sain officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church hut. At other time the family will be at the home of Christy Bowman, 337 Hicks Hill Road, Lawndale, NC 28090.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
