Hazel Ashcraft Jackson

Hazel Ashcraft Jackson, loving wife of the late Howard B. Jackson, age 99, a resident of Kings Mountain, passed away November 20, 2013 at Caromont Health in Gastonia. She was born in Mecklenburg Co., NC, daughter of the late Simeon Eugene Ashcraft and Estelle Biggers Ashcraft.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy White.  She graduated from Central High School, Charlotte, NC and Queens College, majoring in textile design.  She moved to Kings Mountain to work as a textile designer for Neisler Mills, living over Mauney Memorial Library in the teachers’ boarding house.  After marrying Howard, she lived in Kings Mountain and New York City, enjoying an active social life, playing bridge and traveling throughout the world.  Hazel and Howard were lifelong members of First Presbyterian Church, Kings Mtn. NC.   Mrs. Jackson was a member of the former Kings Mountain Garden Club.
