Hazel Galloway Allen, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Autumn Care in Saluda, NC.  A native of York County in South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Birdie Hill Galloway.  She is also preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Galloway and her brothers, Marion, Harold, Ray, and Carl Galloway.  Hazel graduated Lamar High School in 1938.  She was an active member of East Baptist Church for over 40 years where she was a member of WMU and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School and was loved by her church family.  She was known for her wonderful cooking which she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends.  Hazel worked in retail sales for more than 40 years.

Hazel is survived by her sons, Jack Allen and wife Brenda of Harrisburg, NC and David Allen and wife Pam of Jackson, MS; daughters, Dorothy Allen Young and husband Tommy of Shelby and Judy Allen Byrum and husband John of Waxhaw, NC; sister, Fannie Galloway of Timmonsville, SC; brother, Clyde Galloway of Timmonsville, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Allen Holly, husband Jeff and their son Joshua of Cornelius, NC, Karen Allen Webb, husband Howard and their children Miller and Eli of Charlotte, Blair Young, wife Bridget and their children Remy and Thomas of Belmont, Katie Young Graves, husband Dana and their children Luke and Allie of Shelby, Scott Allen, wife Juliana and their children, Sasha and Nico of Eden Prairie, MN, Laurie Shanks, husband Jeff and their children Allen and Kathryn of Birmingham, AL, Sara Byrum Major and her husband Christian of Raleigh, Ellen Byrum Connors and her son Dominick of Matthews, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at East Baptist Church in Gastonia.  The Rev. Tim Parker will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be private in Cleveland Memorial Park.
