HealthCare System Sponsors Pink Ribbon Tea

   The 9th annual Pink Ribbon Tea, sponsored by the Cleveland County HealthCare System, brought out nearly 200 attendees to the new LeGrand Center on Saturday, October 27th. The free event was very informative and inspiring. It began with a welcome by Rita Wortmam, RN, Breast Health Navigator Oncology Services, and followed by an invocation and personal reflections from breast cancer survivor, Reverend William Thompson, Pastor of St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church in Grover. Yes, men can have breast cancer too. The Keynote Speaker was Francheska Merritt of Myriad Genetics. She spoke about a wide range of cancer detection methods and treatments, followed by an open floor question and answer session. - M.A. Andrews
