Helen Cannon Byers, 88, of Byers Road in Caroleen passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at home after an extended illness.

A native of Caroleen, she was the daughter of Alfred Lloyd Cannon and Martha Priscilla Baynard Cannon, of Avondale. She is survived by her loving husband of seventy-years, Garland F. Byers, Sr.; daughter, Susan B. Williams (Russell) of Caroleen; one son, Garland F. Byers, Jr., of Caroleen; four grandchildren, Russ Williams (Danielle) of Caroleen, Amber B. Digh (Melvin) of Rutherfordton, Wes Byers (Amanda) of Bostic, and Connor Byers of Caroleen; five great-grandchildren, Carleigh Williams, Brayden Williams, Audrey Williams, Bryndle Digh, and Avery Digh and one sister, Marie C. Phillips, also of Caroleen.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm at Harrelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 3:00 pm at the Caroleen United Methodist Church with a private burial to follow at the family cemetery on Byers Road. Rev. Norma Roberts of the Caroleen UMC is officiating and will be assisted by Rev. Roy Byers of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that contributions be made to Caroleen United Methodist Church or The Chase Corner Ministries or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
