Helen Lunell Chapman Canipe

Helen Lunell Chapman Canipe, 91, of Casar, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of unwavering faith, Helen leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and warmth that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born on November 11, 1933, to the late Zebbie and Viola Chapman, Helen was a lifelong resident of Casar and a faithful member of Saint Paul Baptist Church, where she found community and spiritual strength. A proud breast cancer survivor, Helen lived her life with grace, resilience, and a steadfast belief in God.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Wayne Canipe, her daughter Carolyn Canipe, her granddaughter Becky Ramey, her parents Zebbie and Viola Chapman, and five of her brothers.

She is survived by her loving children, Pat O'Renick and husband Jack, Sandi Pruitt, and Steve Canipe; her cherished grandchildren, Kim Towery and husband Brian, Rodney Pruitt, Scott Brittain and wife Sherry, Casey Vinski and husband Stephen, Chastity Rushing and husband Warren. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy. Helen is also survived by her dear sisters Maggie Burns and Joyce Jones, her brother Reid Chapman and sister-in-law Linda, along with a large and loving circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Helen will be remembered for her warm heart, her deep love for her family, and the simple joys she treasured - sipping coffee with her children, gardening, and making her famous chocolate cake and green beans. She truly was the best mom, sister, wife, and grandmother anyone could ask for.

Though our hearts ache, we find peace in knowing she is reunited in Heaven with those she missed dearly. Helen was so loved in this life and will be carried forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." Proverbs 31:28-29 (KJV)
