Helen Morris McDaniel

Helen Morris McDaniel, 91, passed away on May 7 with her family by her side.

Helen was born on May 19, 1931 in Moore County, NC to the late Earl and Eva Carter Morris. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bill McDaniel and by her brother, Jerry Morris.

Helen is survived by her daughter Suzie Terres (Mike), son David McDaniel (Dorothy), granddaughter Brandi Parker (Jeff), grandson Josh Newton, and by great grandchildren Will Parker, Grant Parker and Jacob Newton. She is also survived by her sister Laura Laine Huskey (Bob) and by sisters-in-law April Morris, Libby McDaniel and Becky McDaniel, and by brother-in-law Durwood McDaniel. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive her.

Helen grew up in Kings Mountain in the Bethware Community and spent her whole life as a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She and Bill anchored their lives in the Lord Jesus Christ and taught their children and grandchildren to always seek the Lord and His ways and to anchor their lives on the teachings of His Word and nothing else. Helen served in many roles at Bethlehem from teaching Sunday School to leading in Training Union and to helping with various Wednesday night activities. She served on food committees, flower committees, and particularly loved in her later years to go out visiting the shut-ins of the church.

Helen graduated from the Shelby School of Nursing in 1952 and spent her working life caring for the needs of others at hospitals in Gastonia and Kings Mountain. She also did private duty nursing after her retirement from Kings Mountain Hospital.

The family would like to thank the staff of Summit Place in Kings Mountain where she lived for the last year, for taking such good care of her and loving her like their own family.
