Helen Oates Brackett, 95, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at
her home.

She was born on June 14, 1921, in Catawba County, to the late John Leonard
Oates and Nora Copas Oates. Mrs. Brackett was retired from Roses and Kings
department stores and also worked at SDF Fashions. She was a member of
Kadesh United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brackett loved working especially
being around people.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ellis Brackett; two
brothers, Wayne and Bud Oates; and sister, Bernice Setzer.

She is survived by her special nephews, Wyatt Dellinger and wife, Brenda of
Shelby and Sammy Setzer and wife, Lisa of Hickory and other nieces and
nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all of Mrs. Brackett's
caregivers for their love and support.

Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral
Home

A funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Sunday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home
Chapel.

Burial will follow in Kadesh United Methodist Church Cemtery.
