Helen Ponise Watson Melton gained her wings on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Carolinas Medical Center Main. Her final days were surrounded by loving family and friends that she had touched in some small way through her life. Helen is predeceased by her parents, the late Gordon and Ruby F. Watson.

Helen could accomplish anything she set her mind to. She loved her family, working in her flower gardens, fishing and shopping. She was born and raised in Bryson City, North Carolina and resided the last 15 years in Grover, North Carolina.

Her last job working was taking care of others before her health stopped her. Prior to working in home health, she worked the majority of her life in the furniture industry. She will truly be missed and loved by all who knew her.

Helen leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband, Larry Melton of the home; five children, son, Ronnie Costner and wife Frankie; son, Rickey Metcalf; daughter, Nellie Whitted and husband Jason; step-daughter, Tammy Grayson and husband David; step-son, Jimmy Melton and wife Tammy; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2017, at First Wesleyan Church, 505 North Piedmont Avenue, Kings Mountain. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Cleveland Memorial Park, Boiling Springs, N.C.
