Helen Raye Dysart Davis

Helen Raye Dysart Davis, 89, passed away Tuesday May 5, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living in Forest City. A native of Swainsville NC, born June 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William Clifton and Rella Putnam Dysart. She worked at JC Penny for 48 years as a buyer for her department. Many people depended on her expertise when buying merchandise. A close-knit business family, the JC Penny employees still spend time together each year. She was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church in Mooresboro. As of 2012, she had perfect attendance in Sunday School for 50 years. She was the Children's Department Outreach Leader and Secretary for 58 years, she sang in the choir for 65 years and was worship greeter for many years, she had a love for the Lord and it was evident in her service to Him and her church. She was a member of the Mooresboro Book Club and Senior Citizens Group. She left a legacy of love, her faith to God, her strong prayer life and generosity to the unfortunate. She had a wonderful church family, JC Penny family, and neighborhood family. She was a godmother to many and an aunt or cousin to others. In public, many people would come to Raye expressing their gratitude for all she and Leonard had done for them, like sending some to school, helping with clothing, paying unpaid bills, and supporting mission trips. She loved people, and people knew she loved them. She loved to get out and see people, eating at new restaurants, and going to businesses nearby. She never stopped going and doing but continued enjoying life to the fullest, living and caring for others. May we never forget what Raye has done for us; how she has changed our lives, and continue to learn from the life she lived before us. We would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in Forest City, formally Carolina House, Hospice of Rutherford County and helping Hands of Shelby, for their loving care
