Henry Edward Yarbourough, age 89, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Atrium Main of Charlotte.

Born in Shelby, NC on August 1, 1934 to the late Thomas Dixon Yarborough and Ethel Opal Stroupe.

Henry graduated from high school in Gastonia, NC. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army where he proudly served as a paratrooper. He was a faithful member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and a 58 year veteran at Cleveland Masonic Lodge #202. Henry truly enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Betty Willis and Tommy Yarborough.

Henry is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lelia Borders Yarborough; brother James "Pete" Yarborough and daughter Jane Yarborough. Also left to cherish his memory is granddaughter Jamie Elizabeth Banner and grandson Jason Edward Banner along with his two great grandchildren Heidi Elizabeth Pyatte and Harper Adam Pyatte.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Elizabeth Baptist Church of Shelby with Dr. Rit Varriale and Rev. Jim Brackett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. A burial in the church cemetery will follow the service with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.
