Herman Marcus Jamerson

Mr. Herman Marcus Jamerson, 62, of Charlotte, NC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his residence. He was born on January 10, 1959 in Cleveland County to Charles and Laura Jamerson.

Marcus was a 1977 graduate of Shelby High School. He continued his education at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where he played football. At an early age he became active in sports playing in the Pony League Baseball and in Midget Football. He continued his love for sports at Shelby High Junior High and Shelby High School where he played junior varsity and varsity football. He was the first black quarterback at Shelby High School. He continued playing football at Appalachian. He also played shortstop for American Legion Post 82. Marcus excelled in all areas of sports making All Conference for Shelby High Football and American Legion Post 82 Baseball.

He was a jazz enthusiast and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan from an early age.

He was employed with PNUCCOR LLC of Charlotte, NC. Marcus was a former member of Eskridge Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he attended Sunday School and sang in the youth choir.

He was preceded in death by his aunts Carrie Surratt, Mildred McSwain, Doris Wilson, Mary Reid, Joan Jamerson Davis, Betty Withrow; uncles Alfred Twitty, John L. Twitty, Leon Surratt, Thomas Surratt, and Thomas Jamerson and a nephew, Petrie Dorsey.

Left to cherish his fond memories are his parents Charles and Laura Jamerson; one son Marco A. Jamerson; daughter Zamora J. Jamerson; two siblings Lester Loren Jamerson of Shelby, NC and Charlotte D. Jamerson (Terry) of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren Marquise Jamerson, Nevaeh Jamerson, and Chyná Jamerson all of Shelby, NC; aunts Beatrice McGill, Emma Jean (Jerry) Lowery both of Gastonia, NC; Felicious Surratt of Charlotte, NC, Helen (Horace) Craig, Iva Jean (Nathaniel) Petty and Juanita Surratt all of Shelby, NC, Rebecca (Rayfield) Cabaniss of Charlotte, NC; uncles George (Carolyn) Surratt of Lawndale, NC and James (Vanessa) Hayden of Morganton, NC, Larry (Mary) Jamerson of Greensboro, NC, Jerry (Beatrice) Jamerson of Raleigh, NC; nieces Summer J. Jamerson and Lauren Symone Jamerson both of Shelby, NC; great niece Kennedy Houze of Shelby, NC; close friends John Maddox, Jr. of Shelby, NC, Angel and Cedric Surratt of Charlotte, NC; a very special friend Myra Ward of New York and other relatives and friends.

The service for Mr. Jamerson will be private but will be live streamed on FaceBook starting at 1:45 PM on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM at S. T. Enloe Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 30thas well as other times at the home of his parents, 831 N. Morgan St. Shelby. He may be viewed at S.T.
