Hilda Bess Blanton, age 75 of Shelby, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Tony C. Blanton of the home, two children, Laura B. Mitchell and husband Mark and Carl Blanton and wife Amy, five grandchildren, Casey Francis, Hunter Francis, Jessie Listoe and husband Christian, Jodi Blanton, and Jack Blanton, a great granddaughter, Ellie Listoe, two brothers, Harold Bess and Hugh Bess, a sister-in-law, Shirley B. Pyron and husband Bobby, and numerous nieces, nephews, and countless Friends.

Born December 3, 1946, in Cleveland County, NC, Hilda was the daughter of the late Tom and Ora Hawkins Bess, her in-laws, Zeb and Susie Blanton, a sister-in-law, Sharon Bess, and a brother-in-law, Z.V. Blanton.

Hilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist church where she had taught Sunday school for many years. Hilda worked and retired from the Register of Deeds in Cleveland County. Among other jobs, she worked at First Federal Savings and Loan, Plastic Oddities, and Saco Supply. She was a loving and warmhearted person that loved her family and her church. Hilda especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She always brough cheer and a smile to anyone that she met. She will be truly missed by those that knew her.

A visitation will be held from 1:30pm - 3:00pm, Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm at the church conducted by ?? Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim Triplett, Aaron Triplett, Gene Pyron, Jed Pyron, Rodney Bess, Chris Bess, Todd Blanton, and Eddie Blanton.
