'Hitmakers' concert benefits Feeding Kids program

Imagine an evening of listening to some of the best-ever country music songwriters performing in-the-round. Now imagine a delicious dinner and drinks before the concert, and imagine that all of this helps the children of Cleveland County who need it most.
And now, your imagination can come to life on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, when the Nashville Hitmakers concert comes to Spinning Leaf Vineyard in Shelby to benefit Feeding Kids Cleveland County (FKCC).
"This is a concert like you have never experienced before," says Spinning Leaf owner Seth Stevens. "It will be an intimate concert featuring three of the most prolific songwriters in country music over the last 30 years."
Artists scheduled to appear at the event are Even Stevens, Paul Overstreet and Scotty Emerick, all of whom will be playing their hits and sharing up-close and personal stories behind their iconic songs.
"Together, these artists have won Grammy awards, Dove awards, songs of the year and songwriters of the year," says Stevens. "They will take the stage together, tell the origin stories of their famous songs and then play their most popular hits."
The headliner for the evening is Even Stevens, a major award-winning songwriter, who penned songs such as "I Love A Rainy Night," "When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman," "Drivin' My Life Away," "Love Will Turn You Around," "Step By Step," "Lovin' Only Me" and "Crazy In Love." He has accumulated an unprecedented 54 BMI Awards and reached the top 10 on the Billboard record charts 42 times.
Also appearing is Grammy-winning and Hall of Fame songwriter Paul Overstreet. As a songwriter, Overstreet has written and co-written 27 top 10 songs, his first being George Jones' "Same Ole Me." Numerous other artists have recorded his songs, including Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Keith Whitley, Alison Krauss, The Judds, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.
Scotty Emerick is best known for his songwriting association with Toby Keith. Since 1997 the two have enjoyed a phenomenal collaboration, including "I'm Just Talkin' About Tonight," "Beer For My Horses," "I Love This Bar," "Whiskey Girl," "Go With Her" and "As Good As I Once Was." Emerick plays acoustic guitar and sings backing vocals on numerous Chesney tracks. He is also a frequent performer on Chesney's national stadium and arena tours.
All of the proceeds from the concert and dinner will go to fund the work of Feeding Kids Cleveland County. Since 2016, FKCC has been providing food in backpacks each weekend during the school year for kids who need them. During the school breaks, the organization delivers boxes of food to families identified by school social workers. And each Thanksgiving the FKCC joins with other community partners to host an annual Thanksgiving meal. The meal takes place in three locations simultaneously the Wednesday before Thanksgiving in some of Shelby's high-need areas. Finally, this summer the organization hosted its first-ever "Summer Bash" that included hot dogs, ice cream and an inflatable water slide.
