Hog Happnin’...
Hog Happnin' The Southeast's Finest BBQ Competition!
Fifty-five teams from seven states, Kansas, Maryland, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina participated at this year’s Hog Happnin’. This was the first year the KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society) sanctioned competition was held at Shelby City Park.

The Hog Happnin’ Committee praised the City of Shelby and the Shelby City Parks and Recreation for all their help in making the festivities a success. This year’s Grand Champion team was “Two Old Men & A Grill” from neighboring Bessemer City. One our local teams “Mountain Magic”, the Smoke on the Square team, dominated the “Anything But” category with a total of six awards. This year’s Car & Cycle show was also fantastic. It featured some of the finest classic and extreme vehicles around. Hog Happnin’ is a major contributor to the Children’s Homes of Cleveland County, as well as several other charities.
