Honoring Our Fallen Law Enforcement Officers

This is National Police Week and a special ceremony to honor local fallen law enforcement officers was held on Wednesday, May 13 at the fallen heroes memorial of those from Cleveland County who gave the supreme sacrifice. The six who died in the line of duty are: 1901, Shelton Jones, Chief, Shelby Police Department; 1904, Edgar Hamrick. Chief, Shelby Police Department; 1931, Sanford Pruitt, Cleveland County Sheriff's Department; 1933, Ewart W. Sanders, Cleveland County Sheriff's Department; 1968, Donald Henderson, Kings Mountain Police Department; 1974, George Allen, Chief Deputy, Cleveland County Sheriff's Department. The theme was: "Honoring Courage, Saluting Sacrifice". Shown above is State Trooper Josh Hendrick and Kings Mountain Officer Brian McDaniel as they salute, after placing a memorial wreath at the fallen heroes memorial.
