Hopper receives honor Boys & Girls Club honor

Teen Camper Leadership Award
The Teen Camper Leadership Award was presented to Daleion Hopper. This award is presented each year to one teenage participant in the Jack and Ruth Schweppe Summer Day Camp Program who displayed outstanding leadership potential and motivated others to achieve more. This year's recipient is a true leader. He has been a Club member for seven years. Daleion is in the ninth grade, and is enrolled in mostly honors classes at Shelby High School. He is on the A-B honor roll and also plays on the junior varsity basketball team. After high school, he hopes to attend MIT or Cal Tech to become an engineer. He is the son of Amber Moore and the grandson of Joyce Moore. His award included both a plaque to honor his achievement and a $50 gift certificate from the Boys & Girls Club's Board of Directors.

The Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland County held its Annual Awards Banquet and program at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Shelby on Friday Evening, April 8, 2016. Board President Jack Weller was Master of Ceremonies for the evening, which honored many of last year's volunteers, supporters and participants in the Club's programs.
Located at 412 West Sumter Street, Shelby, the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland County serves more than 400 local children and their families. The Club's mission is to enable all children in our community, especially those who need help the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
