Hospice celebrates 30 years of caring
Members of Hospice staff and volunteers gather together to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Hospice Cleveland County.

Hospice Cleveland County began caring for the first patient on October 12, 1985. That was just five years after the first hospice appeared in north Carolina and just just 10 years after the first hospice in America. On Tuesday, October 13th, Hospice Cleveland County celebrated 30 years. Visitors were welcomed to review some books of memories and achievements and share in some light treats. It was a proud day for the dedicated staff and volunteers who make Hospice Cleveland County successful.
The first year, hospice had 87 patients. Since the beginning in 1985 up to 2014 hospice has served more than 10,000 people. Myra McGinnis, CEO of Hospice Cleveland county said: "Hospice is about helping people emotionally, spiritually and physically."
Hospice Cleveland County is ranked 13th of the 100 counties in North Carolina. It provides loving care to 55 percent of those who pass away in the county, These exceptional people make all the difference and are to be commended for their total dedication and help at a time of need. Congratulations to a great organization. We're glad your here.
