Ms. Ida Lee “Ida Rider” Cannon, 69, of 909 Logan St. Shelby, NC departed this life on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Born May 18, 1943 in Cleveland, she was the eldest daughter of the late James and Ida Mae Shell Cannon.
Ida was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she joined at an early age. She loved her church and was involved with the Seniors on the Move. A caring and humble person, she was a mother figure to all her family. In addition, she enjoyed doing puzzles, playing bingo, cooking and going shopping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela “Lucy” Cannon and Veronica Cannon; her brothers, J. C. Cannon, Elbert Cannon (Dorothy Ann) James Cannon, Jr. and Freddie Cannon and two sisters, Bessie Cannon and Louella Byers.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Terry Cannon , Jimmy Cannon and Larry Cannon (Michelle) all of Shelby; one daughter, Kamilla Cannon of Shelby; two sisters, Helen Cannon and Diane Macopson (Joseph) both of Shelby; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Vernice Cannon, Bernice Cannon and Beulah Cannon all of Shelby; a special friend, Barbara Daniels of Shelby; an additional brother-in-law, Tommy L. Byers of Shelby; two great-aunts, Suzanna Shelay and Willie Mae Abney both of Saluda, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor M. Lamont Littlejohn officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
