Imogene Van Dyke Mitchell

Imogene Van Dyke Mitchell, 73, of 801 Burnt Mill Road, passed away Thursday, April 22nd, 2021, at her residence.

Born in Tazwell, Virginia, she was the widow of John Crockett Mitchell, Jr. and the daughter of the late John Alex Van Dyke and Lona Addair Van Dyke. Mrs. Mitchell retired from textiles.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by three sons, John Crockett Mitchell III (Heather), Michael J. Mitchell (Barbara), and Steven Mitchell (Melody); three daughters, Teresa Maney (Robert), Patty Hutchinson (Ronnie), and Diane Hicks (Jacob); one brother, Fred C. Van Dyke; four sisters, Brenda Rutherford, Kathy Stress, Pamela Wingo, and Linda Capeli; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her siblings, Jay Van Dyke, Donald G. Van Dyke, Shirley Day, and Janice Van Dyke and her grandchildren, Heather Mitchell, Bean Hicks, Tristin Hicks, and two angel great-grandbabies.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 26th, 2021, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Josh Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. John Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Steven Mitchell, Ronnie Hutchinson, Jacob Hicks, Dawson Mitchell, Duston Wright, Trevor Hearn, Bubba Blanton, and Robert Maney will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at the residence.
