Inez Lytle Presson

Inez Lytle Presson, 86, of Shelby and Morganton passed away peacefully after a period of declining health Friday, September 4, 2026 at Amorem Hospice Valdese. She was born in McDowell County February 22, 1940; the daughter of the late Charles and Willie Hogan Lytle. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr.Johnny E. Presson; two brothers, William P. Lytle and James C. Lytle and sister-in-law, Eloise Lytle

Inez was a loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt. She especially enjoyed her time with the loves of her life, her nieces and nephews. She graduated from Marion High School. She received a BS and MA Degrees from Appalachian State University. She was a dedicated educator and taught primary grades in The Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Guilford and Scotland County School Systems. She was serving as a high school media coordinator in the Cleveland County School System at the time of her retirement.

In retirement Inez and Johnny enjoyed traveling, the beach, an avid supporter of football and basketball at Wake Forest University and Shelby High School Lions football teams.

She enjoyed traveling and having roses in the house from her rose garden during the growing season. Many Homestead Hills residents and staff were special friends and always there with support and prayers.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Clinton Lytle (Donna) of Morganton; sister-in-law, Norma Suddreth; Marilyn Presson (Steve); her nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chelsey and Stevie at Grandfathers Ridge for their love and exceptional care, and to Tamera Phillips, her faithful caregiver.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Shelby with Rev. Curtis Goforth presiding. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 am prior to the service. Inurnment will follow in the church Columbarium.
