Mr. Ira Wade Allen, age 76 of Shelby, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Peak Resources in Shelby.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Kay (Mull) Allen of the home, three children; Shannon Allen and Fiancé Tammy Greene of Boiling Springs, NC, Brad Allen and wife Gayle of Piqua, Ohio, and Brian Allen of Peoria, IL, three grandchildren; C.J. Allen, Katie Allen, and Eric Allen, a brother; Dr. Larry F. Allen and wife Dianna of Kings Mountain, NC and several nieces and nephews.
Born May 18, 1939 in Cleveland County, Mr. Allen is the son of Mamie Lou (Cash) Allen and the late Floyd Allen.
Mr. Allen served in the United States Air Force as a Radar Technician stationed in Alaska. After an Honorable discharge, he drove a charter bus for America Charter and retired from Plastic Oddities. Wade was a member of Second Baptist Church of Shelby where he co-taught the Roberts Sunday School class. He was a charter member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school, directed the choir, and served as the Training Union Director. Wade was a dedicated follower of Christ and loved studying the Bible daily and loved listening to Southern Gospel music. He enjoyed watching the Shelby Golden Lions football team. He also loved watching Shelby Post 82 Legion Baseball where he served a year helping with the American Legion World Series. Wade loved spending time with his family and friends especially his grandson, C.J.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Second Baptist Church of Shelby conducted by Rev. Jeremy Peeler and Dr. John Adams. A visitation will be held from 12:30 - 2:00 pm prior to the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 1114 South Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28152.
