Iva Jean Kincaid Beason
 BOILING SPRINGS- Mrs. Iva Jean Kincaid Beason, 84, of 215 Wall Avenue, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Bessemer City, NC, she was born September 28, 1927, daughter of the late Arnold and Janie Sue Dodd Kincaid. A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill in the late 1940’s, she was a proud Tar Heel and a life long supporter of Carolina Basketball. She was a teacher who began her career in the 1950’s. In the 1960’s, she was asked to begin the first 7th grade Language Arts and Social Studies “Gifted and Talented” class in Cleveland County at Shelby Junior High School. She greatly enjoyed teaching and retired in the 1980’s after many years of distinguished service. She was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church for over 60 years where she was actively involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry until the time of her death. Due to declining health, she has recently relinquished membership in Delta Kappa Gamma, a distinguished national teacher’s sorority and in the Sorosis Club, a local women’s club devoted to fellowship and community betterment. She greatly enjoyed spending her summers at her log cabin on Lake Montonia in Kings Mountain where she had many special friends.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) H. Beason; two brothers, Robert and David Kincaid.

SURVIVED: She is survived by one son, Ted Beason and wife Cindy of Hickory; one daughter, Sherry Beason Starnes and husband David of Mooresboro; two sisters, Mrs. Bobby Bush of Caroleen and Mrs. Jerry Adams of Kings Mountain; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Heyward White of Boiling Springs and Mrs. Franda Kincaid of Simpsonville, SC; four grandchildren, Paul Baron of Baltimore, Maryland, Laura Barnes and husband Ray, Amy Daigle and husband Jason all of Hickory, and Susanna Starnes, a student at UNC-Wilmington; three great grandchildren, Nathan and Allyssa Barnes, and Aiden Daigle; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A memorial and celebration of life service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday at Boiling Springs Baptist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends 1-3:00 pm Thursday before the service at the church and other times at her home.
