J R Lane, age 89, of Union Mills, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Accordius Health in Rutherfordton.

J R was born Friday, April 22, 1932 in Rutherford County to the late Julius Franklin Lane Sr. and Bertha Annabell Conner Lane. He worked as a logging truck driver for most of his life and was a member of Camp Creel Baptist Church. J R enjoyed riding four wheelers, driving trucks, going to dirt track races and taking care of his dogs.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Louene Thomas Lane of sixty-seven years; two sons, Grayling J. Lane (Anna) and Randy Lee Lane (Sharon) all of Union Mills; brother, Roy Lane (Edna) of Union Mills; three sisters, Margaret Wallace of Ellenboro, Shirley Griffin of Union Mills and Carolyn Spurling (Gene) of Forest City. He is also survived six grandchildren, Travis Lane, Josh Lane, Robert Fowler, Nathan Hall (Rena), Floyd Tate, April Lane and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Dennis Yelton officiating. Interment will follow in Camp Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
