Jacob "Jake" Sain Hicks, 83, of 724 E. Stagecoach Trail, Fallston, passed
away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at his home.

He was born in Cleveland County on June 19, 1933, to the late Austin Frank
Hicks and Ezell Ruth Sain Hicks. Jake retired from Stamey Stores, Inc. as a
sales clerk. After his retirement from Stamey's he began helping his friend
Fitzhugh McMurry at McMurry Farms, which allowed him to be able to visit and
see people. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church but also
enjoyed attending Fallston Baptist Church. Jake also served in the United
States Army during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his four brothers,
John Lee Hicks, Houston Hicks, Frank Hicks, and William "Bill" Hicks and two
sisters, Millicent Francis and Marilyn Whisnant.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Peggy Ann Jones Hicks;
daughter, Tracy Royster and husband, Robert of Fallston, granddaughter,
Meredith Royster of Shelby; and sister, Jane Greenwood of Fallston.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the
Fallston Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

The celebration of life service will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM at Fallston
Baptist Church with the Rev. David Blanton officiating.

The burial will be private in the Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
