Jacqueline "Jackie" Hope Bennett

Jacqueline "Jackie" Hope Bennett (83) of Grover, NC, passed away at her home on July 29, 2022.

Jackie was born on June 25, 1939, on the anniversary of her late parents, Thomas Dean Hope and Mary Helen Spake Hope, in Cleveland County.

Jackie lived all over the United States but chose Grover as the place to call home. She worked as a telephone operator and a care provider in a group home. She was also very active in her community. Jackie held several positions in the Grover Women's Club, was elected to and served on the Grover Town Council from 2004-2017 and was an officer at the Democratic Precinct of Cleveland County. She loved Carolina basketball, evening game shows, talking politics, word searches, her friends, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Jackie was a loving sister, friend, mother, and memaw to all who knew her, even 'til her final breath. She was compassionate and caring to everyone she came across and never met a stranger. She showed her love for others through cooking, long phone calls, and providing a ride or place to sleep for others.

Jackie was proceeded in death by her parents, Thomas Dean Hope and Mary Helen Spake Hope; son, Henry Thomas "Tee" Bennett; sisters, Judy Blalock, and Vickie Jonas; and friend, Ruth Hail Nanney.

Jackie is survived by her loving brother, Thomas "Tommy" Dean Hope Jr. (Sara Nell) children, Martha (Dennis) Allen, Lynn Bennett Falls, Benjamin "Dude" Bennett, and Mona Lisa (Jeremy) Dover; grandchildren, Michael (Mary Catherine Gensler) Allen, Macey (Chase) Furr, Yul (Katelyn Lowman) Black, Miranda (Caleb Peeler) Falls, Jacob Black, Latoya Lockhart, and Lacie Lockhart; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Cam, Madison, and Maleah; brother-in-law, Jerry Blalock, special family friends Sally Clark, Steve Jasmer, Buster Hail, Vickie Sponek Loete, Phemie and Mike McCracken, and all of Ruth Hail's grandchildren, Meek Falls, and Kevin Walls. The family would like to thank all her special lifelong friends Dale Gold Cabaniss, Elaine Pruette Anton, Jenny Little, Janet Pruitt White, Betsy Wells, Grover Women's Club, and Ben Bennett.

A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jackie Bennett to the Grover Town Park.
