James Arthur "A.W." Weathers, age 70, of Old Henrietta Road, Forest City, NC, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Born February 29, 1948 in Union County, SC, he was the son of the late James Weathers and Marie Lindsey. "A.W." was an auto mechanic most of his life and owned and operated AW's Garage in Sandy Mush. He attended Pleasant View Community Church and enjoyed fishing, camping and especially loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Elmer Padgett; brother, Billy Weathers and two sisters, Kathy Kirby and Jeane Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of twenty-five years, Rose Mary Weathers; son, Jimmy Weathers (Tracy); two daughters, Tammy Ann Weathers of Inman, SC and Shannon Hicks (Joel) of Forest City; sister, Nancy Littlefield of Alabama and a brother, Robert Weathers of Drayton, SC. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Danny McCain officiating. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
