James Austin Smith

James Austin Smith, known affectionately as Austin to his friends and family, passed away on October 3, 2025, at the age of 29 in Lawndale, North Carolina. Born on April 1, 1996, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Austin's life was marked by his adventurous spirit, kindness, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Austin grew up in a loving family and is survived by his mother Tina Stallings and her boyfriend, Alan Dedmon, his father and stepmother, James and Rhonda Smith, his sister Anna Marie Carrigan and her husband, Jacob, his cherished girlfriend, Anna Wooten, his stepbrother Aaron Brooks, stepsister Natalie Arnold, and his adored nephews, Stetson, Wyatt, and Colter Carrigan. Each family member held a special place in his heart, and he in theirs.

From a young age, Austin exhibited a zest for life that was contagious. His adventurous nature led him to explore the great outdoors, always seeking new experiences and challenges. He was a spirited individual whose laughter and energy could light up any room. Those who knew Austin will remember him for his kind-heartedness, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement.

Austin's educational journey, though not detailed here, was a testament to his belief in lifelong learning and personal growth. He approached every opportunity to learn with the same enthusiasm he had for life itself.

As we mourn the loss of Austin, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led and the impact he had on those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the stories they will continue to share. Austin's life was a beacon of joy and kindness, and his legacy will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Services for Austin will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at The Farm in Belwood, to honor and remember his life in a manner befitting the incredible person he was. The family will meet and greet friends and neighbors immediately following the memorial service so that fond memories of Austin can be shared at the Farm. Austin's journey on this earth was a beautiful adventure, and though his time with us was cut short, the memories he created will endure forever. Rest in peace, James Austin Smith; your spirit will never be forgotten.
