Mr. James "Bro Boy" Theodore Young departed this life on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He was born on March 31, 1962 in Cleveland County, NC to Geraldine Lockhart Young and the late George Theodore Young.

James was a 1980 graduate of Shelby High School. He was employed with Freight Liner for a number of years and Wal-Mart in Shelby, NC and York, SC until his health declined. He regularly attended Fishing Creek Baptist Church in York, SC until his health declined.

James loved to talk junk and make people laugh. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan and Duke basketball fan. He always loved and looked forward to spending time with his grandson.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Young.

He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Young of Shelby; two daughters, Sidney Young of Shelby and Senita Bratton of York, SC; one son, Sharief Saunders of Richmond, VA; one grandson, Kenyone Rhone of Shelby; one brother, Ricky Dean Huskey (Mary) of Shelby; three sisters, Ann Moore (Paul), Barbara Moore and Angeline Young all of Shelby; uncles, Charlie Lockhart (Eleanor) of Atlantic City, NJ and Walter Lockhart of Shelby; aunts, Fannie Watkins of Rockingham, NC and Audrey Young of Shelby; long time companion, Deaner Bratton of York, SC; the mother of his child, Kimberley Saunders of Allentown, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
