James Derrick Henson, Jr.
James Derrick Henson, Jr., 19, 514 S. Shelby Street, Blacksburg, SC, died unexpectedly due to an accident August 6, 2017. He is the son of James D. Henson, Sr. of Blacksburg, SC, and Misty Walker Wright of Kings Mountain, NC. He was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church, Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department and Carolina Brothers. He was an employee of Asplundh Tree Co. He loved his family, cars, motorcycles and target shooting.
In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his step-mother, Amber Henson and step-father, Robert Wright; four sisters - Cheyanne Christopher(Casey) and Keilee Wright of Kings Mountain, NC, Laney Henson and Allison Henson both of Blacksburg, SC; two brothers - Austin Henson of Blacksburg, SC, and Tristan Wright of Kings Mountain, NC; grandparents - Teresa M. Hamrick(Bill) of Fallston, NC, Gene and Lynn Walker and Ricky Rice all of Gaffney, SC, and Jimmy D. and Donna Smith Henson of Blacksburg, SC; great-grandparents - Shirley T. Moss of the home, and Nellie Henson of Blacksburg, SC; and a niece - Mia Christopher of Kings Mountain, NC. He is preceded in death by his great-grandfathers - John Nesbitt Moss, James "Jim" Henson, Jack Goodson, and L. J. Smith, and a great-grandmother - Carolyn Goodson.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 6-8:00 PM, at Nazareth Baptist Church. A Celebration Of Life Service, with Firefighter Honors, will be held Friday, August 11, 2017, 3:00 PM, at Nazareth Baptist Church, with Rev. Jamie Billings officiating. Entombment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. At other times, the family will be at the home of Brian and Karen Patterson, 240 Garden Lakes Dr., Blacksburg, SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department, 104 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, SC, 29702, or to Nazareth Baptist Church, 1156 Ninety Nine Island Rd, Blacksburg, SC, 29702.
Members of the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
