James Edward Weaver, 85, of Shelby, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Wendover Hospice House.

James was born on April 12, 1940, in Cleveland County, and was the son of the late Julius Vernon and Vernie Hunt Weaver. He was retired form Hoechst Celanese Corporation and a member of Big Springs Baptist Church.

James is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Ann Holland Weaver; son, Jimmy Weaver and wife Anita of Shelby; two daughters, Carol Bowman of Lattimore and Kim Peeler and Donnie of Fallston; sister, Betty Lutz of Belwood; three grandchildren, Keri Swink, Robert Hindsley, and Katelyn Watson; and three great grandchildren, Kendall Swink, James Watson, and Reece Hindsley.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Double Springs Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 4:00 pm at Double Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Byrd and Rev. Darren Brower officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
