James "Jim" Albert Carpenter

James "Jim" Albert Carpenter, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Atrium Health Cleveland Hospital. Born in Gaston County on January 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Perry George Carpenter and Jessie White Carpenter.

Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army and was the owner of B&C Brick Contractors and worked as a brick mason
until he was 79 years old. He had a passion for fishing and hunting and was the last of the original Brothers and Others that held Cooter Suppers for family, friends, and benefits.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lackey Carpenter; siblings, Rachel Beam, Dean Carpenter, Wade Carpenter, and Dale Carpenter.

James is survived by his daughter, Jamie Pearson; son, Stuart Carpenter; bonus son Scott Newcomb, grandchildren, Jason Pearson (Ashley) and Michelle Scott; three great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Chloe, and Andy Pearson; as well as two sisters-in-law, Betty Carpenter and Pansy Carpenter; nephews Jimmy Dean and Jerry Carpenter and nieces, Renee Beam and Kathy Carpenter.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025, in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Pastor Macky Turner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Cleveland Memorial Park.
