James "Jim" Arthur Olson, 71, of Shelby, NC died on October 7th, 2022. He is survived by his son Brian, daughter Sarah, and sister Patty. Jim was born in Burlington, Vermont, but spent most of his childhood in Alabama. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Auburn University and went on to work for Duke Energy as an Industrial Engineer.

In his spare time, Jim enjoyed road biking (even to the top of Mount Mitchell), going to Clemson baseball games, volunteering at the Carolina Raptor Center, and spending time outdoors with his family. Weekends were filled with hikes through state parks or fishing on nearby lakes. He was well known for his sense of humor and Sunday morning pancakes. He was an avid woodworker and appreciated a good dovetail joint. Jim was also a talented photographer who went to great lengths to set up the perfect shot. His photos brought joy to many. Jim will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
